BALWIN, MO- After dealing us a week of heat in excess of 100 degrees, Mother Nature gifted us with one of the most pleasant evenings we could ever ask for on a Trail Run Series. The gorgeous weather made for an unforgettable night as we put the bow on the 2023 Trail Run Series at Queeny Park.
Steven Stallis came out to finish what he started as he left the line with the victory secured. He swept the series with four victories and earned himself a spot of next year’s roster. Jason Difani and Andy Rains battled it out until the end as Jason took 2nd place in the fourth race leading to a points tie for second place, but using a tie breaker with the final race led to his 2nd place overall with Andy finishing in 3rd.
Lisa Kennedy won her second race of the series, but missing a week cost her a shot at first overall for the Women’s title. Kelley McGaughey took the Overall honors home with her third second place finish. Christine Edwards finished in third place, but missed her podium in the Overall standings by one point to Savannah Gagnon.
Chris Bognar also finished his sweep of the series with a win followed in order with Kent Boyer and Michael Montgomery with the only change in standings for the podium this week is that Michael Shook himself loose from a tie for third.
For the Women’s Masters, Jen Ullery continued her dominance with her third straight victory, but she fell victim to the tie breaker as Susan Richmond finished third in the race to tie everything up at 45, but Susan raced all four races. Newcomer, Sharon Kleffner took second place in the race. Kama Totherow earned third for the Overall Women’s Masters category.
This race wrapped up the 2023 Series and we look forward to 2024! We love our home at Queeny, but may have some options for 2024. Stay tuned and thank you to each of you for coming out!
