BALLWIN, MO. – An early morning thunderstorm managed to change tradition on the course, but it couldn’t change the standings this year on the course. Caleb Brackett took the overall win for the third straight time this year in the approximately four mile course at the Marmot Trail Run Series at Castlewood State Park.

Brackett crossed the finish line with a final time of 25:48.1, just under 30 seconds faster than second place finisher Jack Wilkinson (26:22.1). Lolenek Palecek rounded out the top three two and a half minutes later with a final time of 28:58.6.

Katie O’Brien grabbed her first win of the series on the women’s side with a final time 32:40.0. Mary White took second just over 40 seconds later (33:26.0) and Jennifer Doyle taking third in 35:06.5.

The course featured two significant ascents for the first time this series, with gradients of 15% and 11% respectively in the manner in which they were faced. The first major hill was Cardiac Hill on the Grotpeter Trail – the first time we’ve included that particular stretch of trail in the history of the Trail Run Series.

COURSE REVISION: 05/26/16 – Introducing Cardiac Hill

BALLWIN, MO. – For the first time in the history of the Marmot Trail Run Series, Grotpeter’s infamous Cardiac Hill will be a featured climb. Of course, the only reason that’s happening is this morning’s rains made it impossible for us to use the trails leading to Castlewood State Park’s Grand Staircase. We figure the trade is…

Tentative COURSE REVEAL – 5/26 Race Hits the Traditional Stairs

BALLWIN, Mo. – We’re calling this a tentative course reveal because any significant rainfall may completely change our plans for this Thursday’s race. That’s because this course follows the lowland peninsula that juts out into the Meramec River before heading to the western edge of the park trails to conquer Castlewood’s grand staircase. So, for…

RESULTS 05-19-16 | Rain Holds Off Enough for Series to Continue

BALLWIN, MO. – Following last week’s rainout, the weather finally cleared enough over the past two days for officials to give the go ahead to run Thursday’s race in the 2016 Marmot Trail Run Series as planned. 211 runners tackled the approximately 4.1 mile course on a cool night in the mid 60s. A familiar face took home the overall win,…

COURSE REVEAL: May 19 Course (Hopefully) High & Dry

ST. LOUIS – After a rainout last week, the 2016 Marmot Trail Run Series restarts this week at Castlewood State Park for what  “officially” goes down as the third course of the month. As we expect many of the low-lying areas to still have a lot of standing water following rain on Monday and Tuesday, we’ll start off on Kiefer Creek…
