GRAY SUMMIT, MO – There was very little “bloom” in the 2018 The North Face Shaw Bloom Trail 10k/20k on Saturday, March 25 as the early spring has felt more like winter in the St. Louis area, but the Shaw Nature Reserve makes for a gorgeous backdrop for a run at almost any time.
325 runners braved the late-clearing thunderstorm that managed to pass through less than two hours before race time and the rain held off until just after the finish line archway was taken down.
The late rain did cause a couple of changes to the course that manifested in the 10k course going a little long. We had to make a decision on whether or not we wanted both the 10k AND the 20k to be short or to make the 10k a little long and the 20k right on. We made the latter decision. That discrepancy will be fixed for 2019.
