COURSE REVEAL: Thursday, August 4, 2022 Course 1

The first race of the 2022 Alpine Shop Trail Run Series will start this Thursday evening at 6:15 pm at our new location in Queeny Park in central St. Louis County at 550 Weidman Road.

Race HQ will be closest to the Weidman entrance (the West side of the Park). Enter the park and head up the hill. The closest parking will be accessed by taking the first left after entering the park and following the road until it ends at the large parking lot. Race HQ will be at almost the exact opposite side of the parking lot, in the Northeast corner.

We’re happy to welcome Merrell Footwear on this evening where they’ll have trail runners (the shoes, not the people) to demo if you feel like it, as well as swag to give away at the end of the evening. Make sure you say “Hi!”

Race start time will be at 6:15 pm on the Northwest corner of the parking lot.

From the start, we’ll head out on Hawk Ridge Trail almost straight North on paved trail for a bit before transitioning to gravel. The path will be wide enough to pass, so we anticipate some pace records to be broken this year. We’ll go off trail before we get to the Owl Creek junction and then meet back up with Hawk Ridge (and another quick off-trail jaunt) all the way around the northern edge of the park and down until we join up with the Dogwood Trail as we head downhill around two of the park lakes.

We’ll hop on White Oak for some of our steepest terrain of the run before meeting back up with Hawk Ridge on the far Eastern edge of the park. You’ll have expansive views of much of the park on this stretch before we hit a STEEP drop down to the lowest section of the park before making our way back up to the Race HQ and your Finish Line.

*If you’re worried about the heat, we would also recommend considering bringing a hand-held water bottle or hydration backpack.

Enjoy some Schlafly Beer, some hot dogs and other refreshments at Race HQ following your race. And return your Merrells if you demoed them!

Approximate total distance of the race is 3.8 miles. Lowest elevation: 499 ft above sea level. Highest elevation: 656 ft.
