Trail runners, help us pick this Thursday’s course! The trails we were going to run this past Thursday, we’re planning on running next Thursday now, May 29 to complete the series. That means we’ve still got to announce a new race course for THIS Thursday, May 22! And we’d like your help in determining what we do.
Choice A is the longer of the two options featuring more of the trails north of Kiefer Creek Road than we’ve ever included before in a single race. The course heads up Justin’s Trail on the west side of the park, up Grotpeter across Ries Rd., and then joins the Mountain Ridge Connector for the first time this series. At the bottom of the descent, instead of crossing the road, we’ll head back up the Midway/Office Connector and join Grotpeter again before coming down the Fern Glen Connector to the end. Even with the hills, this should be a fast and fun course that would also have the longest distance of the spring series at about 4.3 miles.
Choice B leads us up the famous Castlewood State Park stairs! This course follows along the river and up the stairs to the top of the bluffs. We’ll make our way all the way to the end of the line and then back down a tricky descent down the River Scene Trail. At the bottom, we’ll follow the river along the South side of Kiefer Creek, cross the creek and return to the starting line. With lots of flats and only the stairs to climb, this would be a quick (but not necessarily easy!) 3.7 mile course.
Simply comment below with either “Hills” or “Stairs” to vote for your choice. We’ll reveal the winner on Tuesday, May 20 at 3 pm!
