BALLWIN, MO — The course for Week #3 of the Alpine Shop Summer Trail Run Series presented by Marmot is revealed! Join us for a 3.8-mile race almost entirely on the northern side of Castlewood State Park.
After completing the standard loop around the parking lot, we’ll dive into the woods south of Kiefer Creek road for a short 1/4-mile jaunt, before crossing the pavement and embarking on a long but gradual climb up Mountain Ridge trail (also known as Love trail to long-time Castlewood visitors). Once you’re at the top of the hill, grab a cup of water from the aid station if necessary and cruise on over to Rollercoaster, where you’ll enjoy 1.25-miles of fast and flowy singletrack. Then, descend back down to the finish line via Fern Glen, a very steep and technical trail…be careful!
The course is measured on paper to be 3.8 miles, but as with the previous two weeks, we will announce an official race distance at the start line to assist in your pacing. Please note that GPS units will vary widely at Castlewood State Park due to elevation changes and forested areas.
Advance registration is available here. On-site registration will be available from 5-6 pm on Thursday, August 20th at the Start/Finish Line (cash, credit cards, and checks accepted).
