BALLWIN, MO. – It’s the first week of the Summer Trail Run Series presented by Marmot! To kick off the Summer Series in style we will complete a large counter-clockwise loop around Castlewood State Park. The Start/Finish line will be at Pavilion #1.
From the pavilion, you’ll run a short loop around the grassy field to get things spread out a bit, and then head up Grotpeter to the north side of the park. Near the top of the hill, you’ll veer right onto Rollercoaster for 1.25 miles of twisty, rolling singletrack. You’ll rejoin Grotpeter to run along the ridgetop, cross Ries Road (grab some water from our volunteers here if you need it), then descend via the switchbacks of Justin’s Trail to Kiefer Creek Road. Once you reach the road, most of the elevation change is over, but you still have to deal with our famous creek crossing before running the remaining 0.5 miles to the finish line back at Pavilion #1.
On-site registration will be available from 5-6 pm on Thursday, August 6th at the Start/Finish Line (cash, credit cards, and checks accepted).
Approximate distance is 4.25 miles. (Please note that GPS units will vary widely at Castlewood State Park due to elevation changes and forested areas. Lowest elevation: 410 ft above sea level. Highest elevation: 650 ft.
