CHESTERFIELD, MO — Alpine Shop has announced the course for the second ever Paddle Sprint presented by Huga Bar. The race will be held at the new River’s Edge Park in Chesterfield, Missouri. Spots still remain for this inaugural series – register for single races on-line ($17 each) or on-site from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM ($20).
The put-in will be directly to the west of the Dock and Shelter. Alpine Shop will provide demo kayaks and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) to all registered paddlers, or you are welcome to bring your own. Paddlers will be able to warm-up in the western part of River’s Edge Lake, as well as receive last-minute tips from Alpine Shop’s ACA-certified kayak and SUP instructors. Mass starts will be held at 6:15 PM and 7:00 PM. Paddlers are welcome to add individual time trials to their evening in between the mass starts. The race loop is approximately 1.2 miles and features 3 slalom turns on the “backstretch” which will challenge paddlers’ handling skills. Results will be separated by age and boat type. All paddlers must wear a PFD while on the water. An awards ceremony will be held at 7:30 PM with combined point totals from June 11th and 25th.
Don’t forget! Registration includes free bars from Chesterfield-based Huga Bar, as well as a chance to win a pair of sandals from Olukai.
River’s Edge Park also features a hiking trail with elevated boardwalk, as well as close proximity to the Monarch Levee biking path. Even if someone in your family isn’t a paddler, bring them along to enjoy the outdoors at the brand new River’s Edge Park!
