Severe storms in the St. Louis area kept the number of participants down to our lowest level in two years, but the skies did clear enough to get the third race of the season in on Thursday night, Aug. 16. Eighty-eight racers conquered the Castlewood State Park 4.9 mile course that featured two major hill climbs and two creek crossings.
Brian Lyons of Glendale continues his streak with his seventh consecutive victory going back to the beginning of the 2011 season. His time of 31:25.7 was a full two minutes ahead of second-place finisher Kyle Barrett. Sunny Gilbert, the top women’s finisher, brought her streak of women’s victories to seven as well. Our congratulations to both runners.
The series has just two more races to go for the 2012 season. Next week’s race course will be announced on Monday, Aug. 20 at 2 pm here at offroadracingleague.com.
