CHESTERFIELD, MO — 22 paddlers gathered at River’s Edge Park for the second-ever Alpine Shop Paddle Sprints presented by Huga Bar. Similar to the inaugural event two weeks ago, most paddlers elected to use Alpine Shop’s demo kayaks (Wilderness Systems Tsunamis and Jackson Journeys) but some dedicated paddlers also brought their own kayaks and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) to participate.
The first wave went off at 6:15 PM with Joe Sartori flying through the multi-turn, 1.20-mile course in his personal kayak in 8 minutes and 59 seconds. Karen Holtmann, in a close race with Ken Bauer, paddled a demo kayak around the same course in just 11 minutes and 19 seconds. Complete results are available at here.
At a rain-abbreviated awards ceremony, Series Champions were awarded boxes of Huga Bars by company CEO Luis Rivero for their winning efforts.
