Maggie Yount finished in first place overall, beating all other men and women in the first race of the Alpine Shop Summer Trail Run Series presented by Marmot. Second place overall runner Jack Wilkinson was almost a minute behind Yount, who recently ran potential Guinness World Records for fastest 5K and 10K runs while pushing a stroller. Yount completed the 4.6-mile course in a blistering 30:41. Yount’s twin sister, Maureen Conley, finished 2nd Women in 35:13. Aimee DeGuire was 3rd Women in 37:49.
Wilkinson, winner of the Men’s Open division of the Alpine Shop Spring Trail Run Series presented by Columbia Sportswear, finished the run in 31:37 in surprisingly reasonable temperatures for August in St. Louis. Andy Becker finished 2nd Men in 32:30, just edging out the beardless Roger Moore for 3rd in 32:38.
In the Men’s Masters 50+ division, Eric Buckley took top spot in 33:45, renewing the friendly rivalry among himself, Steven Worley (2nd in 33:59) and Darryl Holman (3rd in 34:59). These three men dueled throughout the Spring Series and it looks like the Summer Series will be no different!
For the Women’s Master’s 50+ division, Jean Goldsberry took the top spot in 51:42. Bev Ofsthun recovered from her foot injury during the Spring Series to bounce back with a 2nd place Women’s Master’s in 54:48. Kris Clawson was 3rd in 55:59.
