COURSE REVEAL: May 28 (Race 4)

BALLWIN, MO. – It’s the last week of the Spring Trail Run Series presented by Columbia Sportswear. Our longest course to date at 4.1 miles will hit some familiar features from last week, but in the opposite direction.

From the pavilion, you’ll head immediately up the hill just to the east of the parking lot across from the starting point. Once we reach the top of the hill you’ll join with the Lone Wolf Trail and head down the same hill you climbed last week. At the bottom, you’ll cross Kiefer Creek and then head back to the Park Office and up the Midway/Office Connector trail. This straight shot up the hill will bring you to your first experience with The Rollercoaster this series. The Rollercoaster is about 1.4 miles of rolling, twisting single-track at the northern-most section of the park. Passing will be at a premium through this stretch.

Once you’re through that section of trail, you’re almost finished. A short jaunt down the Fern Glen Connector leads you out of the woods and back to Kiefer Creek Road, just a tenth of a mile left to the finish line.

On-site registration will be available from 5-6 pm on Thursday, May 28 at the Start/Finish Line.

Approximate distance is 4.1 miles. (Please note that GPS units will vary widely at Castlewood State Park due to elevation changes and forested areas. Lowest elevation: 410 ft above sea level. Highest elevation: 650 ft.
