For the past several summers, the Alpine Shop Short Track Dirt Crit Series has drawn large crowds of racers and spectators to Castlewood State Park in Ballwin each Thursday night in July. With after-race food and beverages provided by Lone Wolf Coffee Company and a fun, welcoming atmosphere, every one from first-time racers to experienced top-tier competitors have made it a St. Louis summer tradition.

For 2010, Alpine Shop and Lone Wolf Coffee Company are introducing the new Off-Road Racing League! Built on the success of the Short Track series, the combination of weeknight events, great location, a spectator-friendly format and great competition made the decision to expand to other activities an easy one.

We have tried to take what has made those mountain bike events so popular and introduce the format to the trail-running and paddling communities. With tremendous opportunity for cross-training and an obvious next step into multi-sport adventure racing, we are excited to begin a new St Louis tradition.

We’re pleased to announce we’re partnering with local running experts, Big River Running, to help us put on the best – and most original – trail runs in the area.

We haven’t forgotten about the paddlers in the St Louis region either. Given the explosive growth in interest of competitive paddling in Missouri, we had to offer a challenge to local paddlers. A 26-mile point-to-point, downstream race on the Meramec River will provide something new to the local community.

With an established base and unlimited potential, we feel it is high time to bring different outdoor communities together in a racing league that fosters participation and welcomes competition. Welcome to the 2010 Off-Road Racing League brought to you by Alpine Shop and Lone Wolf Coffee Company.
